چکیده

The nutrient digestibility and the metabolizable energy (AME) of Acacia mangium leaf (AM) yeast-fermented AM (YFAM) by Japanese quails were investigated. Fifty-four 4-weeks-old divided into 3 groups with six replications three quails. Each quail was randomly fed an experimental diet composed dextrose (protein-free for determining endogenous excretion) 40 % 40% YFAM. raised individually in a metabolic cage, where feed water provided ad-libitum. Both intake feces weight recorded. Experimental diets excreta sampled subjected to proximate analysis gross energy. results composition indicated that fermentation yeast highly significantly increased (P<0.01) dry matter (DM), ash, nitrogen-free extractives (NFE) content but decreased crude protein (CP), fiber (CF), (GE) content. In addition, birds dietary YFAM compared showed (P≤0.01) DM, organic (OM), CP, GE EE CF digestibility. utilization greater FI, retained, intake, net (NPU), AME than those AM. conclusion, AMLM improved enhanced nutrients, utilization, quail.

Nutrient Digestibility and Metabolizable Energy Content of Mucuna pruriens Whole Pods Fed to Growing Pelibuey Lambs

The nutrient digestibility, nitrogen balance and in vivo metabolizable energy supply of Mucuna pruriens whole pods fed to growing Pelibuey lambs was investigated. Eight Pelibuey sheep housed in metabolic crates were fed increasing levels of Mucuna pruriens pods: 0 (control), 100 (Mucuna100), 200 (Mucuna200) and 300 (Mucuna300) g/kg dry matter. A quadratic (p<0.002) effect was observed for dry m...

Intake, Nutrient Digestibility and Nitrogen Balance of Acacia auriculate, Gmelina arborea, Albizia lebbeck and Butryospermum parkii by Yankasa Bucks

The study was conducted to compare the effects of feeding Acacia auriculata (AA), Gmelina arborea (GA), Albizia lebbeck (AL) and Butryospermum parkii (BP) tree forages as a sole feed for Nigerian goats. Four goats (Yankasa) averaging one year and weighing 11.7±1.8 kg were used to measure the feed intake, digestibility and nitrogen balance. The leaves were offered ad libitum. Dry matter (DM) int...
